PEP

A Politically Exposed Person (PEP) is an individual entrusted with a prominent public function whose position carries a heightened risk of involvement in bribery or corruption.

PEPs include senior officials, judges, military leaders, and often their close associates and family; regulators require enhanced due diligence because their influence creates corruption risk. PEP status is not an accusation, but it raises the diligence bar and usually triggers source-of-funds and source-of-wealth checks. Identity-side PEP determination is a KYC function performed off-chain, but the on-chain follow-through matters: when a PEP transacts, our address risk-score, sanctions screening, and multi-hop fund-flow tracing help evidence that the funds involved do not trace to illicit sources, supporting the enhanced-due-diligence file the PEP designation demands.
