Entity Attribution

Entity attribution is the assignment of a blockchain address or cluster to the real-world actor that controls it, such as a named exchange, service, or wallet owner.

Entity attribution answers the question the ledger deliberately hides: who is behind this address. It combines address clustering, which groups addresses under one controller, with on-chain labels sourced from known deposit patterns, service behavior, and prior activity. The result is an entity — Binance hot wallet, a specific darknet market, a peer-to-peer trader — rather than an anonymous hash. Attribution is probabilistic, so each label carries an attribution confidence value. Downstream, entity attribution powers the counterparty graph and every exposure calculation, because you cannot measure risk against a party you cannot name.
