Whale Wallet

A whale wallet is an address or cluster holding a balance large enough that its transactions can materially affect an asset's price.

A whale wallet controls a position large enough that its buys, sells, and transfers matter to the market. Identifying one depends on entity clustering, since a whale often spreads holdings across many addresses that only aggregate into a single controller once merged. Once attributed and given an on-chain label, whale flows become a smart-money signal: accumulation, distribution, or a move to an exchange deposit address ahead of a sell. Trading systems watch these flows in near real time, while compliance uses the same attribution to size counterparty exposure. The insight comes from the cluster, not any one address.
