Risk-Based Approach
A risk-based approach is an AML principle in which the intensity of due diligence and monitoring is calibrated to the assessed level of money-laundering risk.
FATF places the risk-based approach at the centre of modern AML: firms identify, assess, and prioritise risks, then allocate controls proportionately, applying simplified due diligence to low-risk cases and enhanced due diligence to high-risk ones. Doing this well needs a graded risk signal rather than a binary allow or block. The address risk-score on our platform provides that gradient, and the exposure breakdown explains it, so a firm can route a low-score deposit through automatically while sending a high-exposure or sanctioned-adjacent one to enhanced review backed by KYT and multi-hop fund-flow evidence.
